1. Role‑Playing Adventure

Guided by Zen teacher Seth Dennis, participants enter a collaborative narrative journey using Seth’s streamlined, creativity‑forward spin on D&D. The system is designed to promote imagination, character exploration, and meaningful interaction—while still keeping the fun element of chance from rolling dice.

Seth will transport you to a fantasy spirit world filled with mystical wonders and horrific evils alike and torment you with nuanced moral choices.

Participants create a character—an “adventurer”—who embodies qualities they want to explore, strengthen, or understand.

2. Therapeutic Process Work

Relationship therapist Shannon Martin, MFTC  facilitates the process portion of the group, drawing from the themes, choices, and emotional moments that emerge during the adventure. During the adventure, she’ll chime in at times being in character herself. When the journey reaches a momentary stopping point, she’ll draw everyone back to earth and tend to real time interactions and experiences as ourselves.

About Seth Dennis, Group Co-Facilitator

Zen Master Seth Kongo Dennis, will join us virtually from Mineral Wells, Texas. He received his Bachelors in Religious Studies from Naropa University and was transmitted by Dr. John Shoji Sorenson Roshi in the Matsuoka Soto lineage. He's an assistant koan teacher study in the Open Mind Zen Lineage and has spent nearly a decade serving as a chaplain in a maximum-level trauma hospital, offering presence and compassion in some of life’s most intense moments.

These days, he’s turned his attention to a quieter kind of care — volunteering to help nurse injured bats back to health at a local bat sanctuary. He’s working on publishing a book related to his chaplain experiences. If you’d like to connect with Seth further, you can through my Contact page. This group is open to people of all beliefs, spiritualities, religions, and identities - his background lends itself to create morally complex challenges drawing from a vast range of cultural and religious traditions, which he adapts in a way we can engage with collectively in fantasy role-play.
